It’s almost time to say “Hyvää joulua!” - that’s “Merry Christmas” in Finnish. So in a typically reflective mood, we’re cosying up and taking a look back at our last year. Let's jump into what made 2025 so memorable!
1. We topped the app store! 🚀
Thanks to reviews from care workers who use Nursebuddy day in, day out, our carer app was rated the best of its kind for homecare in UK app stores back in January - and has stayed there ever since!
2. We celebrated care workers 🙏
We introduced new ways to show appreciation to hardworking domiciliary carers through Nursebuddy. Our range of e-cards was extended to include work anniversaries, community festivals, personal milestones and sympathy, among other things. Plus we added a reminder for managers to send their team words of appreciation if they haven’t done it for a while.

3. We got all dressed up 🏆
We were super excited to be shortlisted for a Care Sector Supplier Award which recognises the best providers of products and services to UK care companies. We were selected for our work on supporting homecare companies with carer retention, although sadly it wasn’t our turn to win.

4. 375 people joined our webinars 💪
Focusing on the subjects that matter to frontline domiciliary care workers, our second series of carer webinars was watched by 375 people. We covered dementia, careers, challenging situations, financial wellbeing and end of life care. Catch-up.
5. Warm welcomes and sad goodbyes 👋
Like any year, we had to say a few sad farewells, waving goodbye to Anna, Ben, Cillian and Mari who have all gone on to even bigger and better things. But we were also very happy to give a warm welcome to:
-
Laura - who came back to our Finance team after a long (but important) hiatus
-
Madeleine - a registered nurse who joined us as our newest UK-based Customer Success Manager
-
Umer - who stepped-up from trainee to bolster our technical support team in Finland
-
Mirja - a long-standing buddy who came back for a bit to support our customer success team
-
Emilia & Andris - who we joined forces with to skyrocket our product design
Not forgetting Rocio, who was promoted to lead Customer Success. Very well deserved!
6. We got together 😎
We’re a remote team of 7 nationalities across 3 countries, so we make the most of any opportunity we have to get together. We kicked off the year in Dublin, hosted strategy sessions in Finland, met customers with the Nursebuddy board in London and finished off with our annual week in the sun (ish) in Tenerife! Oh and we popped to Glasgow and Birmingham Care Roadshows to meet lots of lovely homecare providers!

7. We upped our standards ✅
There was a mountain of work towards national care technology standards in both England and Finland. It’s not sexy, but it’s necessary. We rolled out About Me in care plans and made them compatible with single shared personalised care and support plans. We re-certified in Cyber Essentials+ and the Data Security and Protection Toolkit and introduced new security controls for users. We also gave our platform a major facelift to make it friendlier and easier to use for people with disabilities, including visual impairments, which we hope makes using Nursebuddy a more inclusive experience for all.
8. We discovered why carers have good days at work 💚
The second edition of our Carer Wellbeing Survey delved into the reasons behind good and bad days at work in care. On the whole, it found out that care workers have many more good days than bad ones, but are less happy overall compared to last year. Read the full results.

We also hosted a conversation about carer wellbeing at Care Show London 2025.
9. We reached 60 million care hours! 🎉
Since 2012 Nursebuddy has supported homecare businesses across the UK, Ireland and Finland (plus parts of Asia) to deliver more than 60 million hours of domiciliary care. Incredibly, that number has doubled over the last 3 years. What a milestone to finish the year on! After all, that's why we're all here.
We’re looking forward to supporting even more homecare providers in 2026. Will you join us?
Onnellista uutta vuotta! / Happy new year!
