The Nursebuddy platform is robust, built using industry-standard frameworks that comply with modern web requirements - so you know you can rely on it to deliver your homecare services round the clock.
Over the last 12 months we have invested significantly in enhancing how our platform is maintained and monitored. This has made Nursebuddy even more reliable, as well as giving us lots of ideas for further improvements we can make.
Here are some highlights of what we’ve worked on.
Cyber Essentials+
We renewed our Cyber Essentials+ certification in February 2025. Being Cyber Essentials+ certified means our systems have passed a rigorous audit, as well as a self-assessment. This demonstrates we have implemented the 5 main cyber security controls: user access control, secure configuration, security update management, firewalls and routers, and malware protection.
Alerting system
We added new alerts to our 24/7 service status monitoring - the system we use to make sure that Nursebuddy remains functional for all users, and which tells us if it becomes unavailable for any reason. The new alerts include prioritisation based on the severity of the issue - which means we can react a lot more quickly and minimise any downtime for our users.
Emergency back-up
We've beefed-up our emergency cover, storing additional full back-ups of Nursebuddy in even more locations to protect against the event of a (very unlikely) catastrophe at a data centre.
Error detection
We’ve introduced some new processes that help us to detect errors as they occur for our users (for example, if a page didn’t open properly or a document failed to upload). These new services can also retroactively inspect issues that have already occurred, to analyse why they happened. This helps us implement fixes and make improvements more quickly - before things get annoying for you, the user! These services also help us identify bottlenecks which might be slowing the system down.
Speed and performance
Talking of speed, we upgraded our systems to scale database performance and manage the load on Nusebuddy more efficiently. In plain terms, this means that the Nursebuddy screens stay quick and responsive, even when lots of people are using them at the same time. We also did a bunch of “tidying-up” behind the scenes, to make our whole system more efficient.
User experience
We added a new system to be able to see which parts of Nursebuddy get used the most and which areas cause friction. And most importantly, do something about it! For example, we’ve made lots of improvements to how Nursebuddy looks and works on a mobile, as we learnt that there was a pretty significant proportion of managers using Nursebuddy on the go. We hope you’ve appreciated the difference!
AI tools
Our engineering team have adopted a range of AI tools in their code development and code review processes to ensure that it is optimised and the most efficient and accurate it can be. Nursebuddy updates and new features are thoroughly checked by both human and machine processes prior to release.
