A new resource for care workers (and everyone in fact!) to help build wealth from all levels of income. Developed by Jalpa Lai of Lollywise, a finance and life coach who helps people to take the stress out of managing money and achieve their financial goals, this ‘New Year Financial Reset’ workbook is aimed at transforming your relationship with money through mindset shifts and unconventional strategies, that prioritise spending with intention over restriction.

Part 1: Mindset shifts
Changing the way you think about money can have a dramatic impact on how much of it you actually have. Here are 5 things to try.
1. From restriction to intention - instead of thinking you must cut everything fun out to save money, switch to spending on what matters and ruthlessly cutting out what doesn’t.
2. From annual goals to life seasons - instead of setting an arbitrary savings number, switch to thinking about where you are in life right now and what your money needs to do for you.
3. From net worth to net calm - identify your “enough number”, i.e. the amount in savings where anxiety around money significantly decreases.
4. From optimisation to protection - think about how you can protect yourself from your own bad decisions.
5. From independence to interdependence - financial wellness includes asking for help and sharing resources, not trying to handle everything alone.
Part 2: Unconventional actions
1. Do some financial archaeology - instead of jumping into creating a new budget for yourself for this year, start by digging into your spending from last year to unearth the truth.
-
What kinds of things do you spend the most money on?
-
Which purchases have you forgotten about?
-
What did you buy that genuinely made you happier?
2. Create a catastrophe preparedness plan - instead of stashing into a vague “emergency fund” plan for actual scenarios, such as being unable to work or an unexpected expense.
3. Set-up an automated ignorance system - never see the money you shouldn’t spend by setting up separate accounts or automatic transfer.
