'About Me' in Nursebuddy's care planning

Care planning in Nursebuddy now contains an 'About Me' section, aligning with national standards to ensure that domiciliary care is tailored to each individual's unique preferences and needs.

‘About Me’ in Nursebuddy

The new 'About Me' section in Nursebuddy client profiles is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of what truly matters to the individual being cared for, their loved ones, and the best ways to support them.

The ‘About Me’ section captures:

What is most important to me - the most essential information, especially for emergencies. Can also include values, spiritual and religious beliefs, and meaningful activities.

People who are most important to me - who the client wants to be engaged and involved in their care, including in an emergency.

How I communicate and how to communicate with me - preferred languages and details of any adaptive devices such as hearing aids, as well as general preferences and how they would like to be addressed.

My wellness - what the client is typically able to do, alongside the things that can cause or indicate that they are becoming unwell.

Please do and don’t - things the person feels are supportive and those that are not, such as reminders, assumptions or certain treatments.

How and when to support me - what the client would like support with, and how that can change in different environments.

Also worth knowing about me - other relevant information about the person, such as their background, significant people or events, likes and dislikes etc.

Supported to write this by - details of anyone who helped the client to write this 'About Me' information

About Me - as displayed in the Nursebuddy carer app

For care professionals, this offers valuable insights into a client's preferences and needs before a visit, helping them to create meaningful connections and deliver care in a more person-centred way.

Care workers using the Nursebuddy mobile app can easily access the 'About Me' section under the client profile, ensuring that essential personal information is always at their fingertips.

For current Nursebuddy users, ‘About Me’ replaces the previous 'Personal Info' tab within the client profile, and any items previously added there can be retained or removed as needed.

What is ‘About Me’?

‘About Me’ is the most important information that a person wants to share with professionals working in health and social care. It can include things like how best to communicate with the person, how to help them feel at ease during treatment or care, their spiritual or religious beliefs, or what arrangements to make for family or pets if they are hospitalised.

About Me - as shown in Nursebuddy's care planning softwareWhat is the ‘About Me’ standard?

The national 'About Me' standard was developed by the Professional Record Standards Body (PRSB). The standard outlines how About Me information should be documented and shared in health and care records. Having this information standardised, helps people share information about what is most important to them with health and care professionals so that staff can provide better, more person-centred care whenever and wherever it is needed.

It is an essential component of being an assured solution for digital social care records.
