How to export addresses from Nursebuddy to send Christmas cards to your home care clients

Small acts of kindness like sending a postcard or remembering a client’s birthday are essential to ensure a close relationship with each of your customers and to have a person-centric service. These deeds make your clients happy and encourage them to say positive things about you.

One of our customers wanted to send Christmas cards to all of her clients and asked us how to export addresses from Nursebuddy. After hearing such a great idea, we decided to share the instructions with everyone so you can send Christmas cards to your home care clients.

You don’t need to remember every date by heart, Nursebuddy’s client birthday reminder feature helps. We’ve also listed all the main holidays and festivals in the UK at the end of this post.

Log in to your Nursebuddy (desktop) account and open the menu with your name on the top right corner. Choose the option ‘Export data‘ and ‘Download client data CSV file.‘ This will give you a CSV File you can open in Excel or Google Sheets.  Clean up the list by deleting all the unnecessary columns and rows, and leave just the following information:
  • First name
  • Last name
  • Address
  • City
  • Postal code
Remember not to leave blank columns or rows within the list. Save the file to your computer. After this, you can either turn the spreadsheet into printable labels in Word or, you can handwrite them to give a personal touch to the cards.

Get a reminder when your customer has a birthday

Add your customers’ birthdays to Nursebuddy, and the App will remind you when your customer has a birthday so you won’t miss the special day.  Here is how to activate it. Go to the People tab and click any client profile in the list and start editing the client information. Add ‘Date of birth’ and save the changes you made. The software will notify you about the birthday as part of the client profile starting at one week beforehand.  The care worker sees this information in the App when she looks at her daily visit list and clicks on the profile to open it. Wishing someone happy birthday is an inexpensive way to make someone happy.

List of the main holidays and festivals in the UK and Ireland

It doesn’t have to be Christmas to send a card to someone. There are plenty of other celebrations to remember your clients with a pleasant little surprise.  Here is a list of the main holidays and festivals in the UK (some of them are celebrated more on specific areas of the UK than the others):
  • Mother’s Day (March)
  • St. Patrick’s Day (Ireland, 17th March)
  • April Fools’ Day (1st April)
  • Easter (March to April)
  • Father’s Day (21st June)
  • Halloween (31st October)
  • Hanukkah (November/December)
  • Christmas Day (25th December)
  • New Years (31st December)
Not everyone celebrates all the holidays and festivals as some of them are linked to location, religion, or some other matter that one might not relate to. Certain celebrations such as New Year are more neutral than others.  If you don’t have time to send Christmas cards anymore, perhaps you could send a Happy New Year’s card instead! What a great way to start a year. A postcard can make a grandma or grandpa’s day and bring a smile to her or his face.
